Group size:
The max size for a trip to this care point is 12 people. Our intention is to send a team from OFLC to Ethiopia every year so if you are unable to attend this year, you’ll have future opportunities.
Age requirements:
Travelers must be 18+ years of age, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Needed vaccinations:
This is something you’ll want to talk to your health care provider about. However, as a point of reference, past participants have been encouraged to receive the yellow fever vaccine, oral malaria pills, oral typhoid pills, and required boosters. (Note: Typhoid fever is a food and water born disease, and can generally be avoided by only drinking bottled water and consuming properly prepared food).
Passport and Visa:
To enter Ethiopia, you'll need a passport that does not expire within 6 months of travel, as well as a visa that is purchased one week before travel.
What will we be doing?
One of the core values of Children’s Hopechest is to help children and sponsors develop a relationship with one another. Therefore, the most important thing you will be doing is meeting your child, and possibly one of their parents. In addition to time with your child, each member of our team will be sharing life skills with the children via help from a translator. We will also be playing games, engaging in arts and crafts, and sharing simple gospel messages. To help us learn more about Ethiopian history and culture, we will have several opportunities to visit historic sites, restaurants, and cultural areas of interest.
How to reserve your spot:
Submit a $250 deposit to OFLC (check or via the online giving portal) with “Modjo Partner Visit” in the memo or “give to” section. The spots will be held by a first come first serve basis, with a waiting list created should we reach the 12 person max. Finally, the following payment timetable will be as follows:
+ July 1st 25% of payment required
+ September 1st 50% of payment required
+ October 1st 100% of payment required
In the meantime, if you have any questions feel free to reach out. God’s blessings! Pastor Micah
