AGE GROUPED HUNTS / OFLC Campus

Invite friends, neighbors and family to our annual Easter egg hunt, Sunday, March 29 beginning at 12pm. Come join the fun on campus and experience food trucks, games, crafts and a raffle. We will have several hunts available based on age group, the limit are kids in 5th grade. We supply the cartons to collect your eggs. The first age group will begin the hunt at 12:45pm.

APR 10-11

Sarah Salzburg is returning to lead us in discussing Whose Image Do We Bear. As we discover the character of God the Father we will also discover the image we are created in.

Our Retreat will be held again at the Table Mountain Inn in Golden, CO - not too close but also not too far away.  The only onsite parking is valet. Additional parking is available offsite. The Retreat will be a time to relax with your friends and to make new ones. 

JULY 20-24

Our theme this year is Rainforest Falls. During our week, we will learn about the nature of God! VBS will be for 3 year olds through rising 5th graders. Registration for OFLC families will be open Monday, March 30 and for the general public Monday, April 6 at 9am. We can’t wait to see you at Rainforest Falls!

YSLETA LUTHERAN MISSION / DONATIONS NEEDED

Anticipation builds as our mission team gears up and begins purchasing supplies for their November 26-30 mission trip. They still need your help. You can help support the mission with a donation (no gift cards), no matter how small or large, toward the mission trip. Donations are accepted online or through your worship offering. This is the last weekend to submit your contribution. 

CHRISTMAS CONCERT / DEC 14 4PM

In a world beset with strife, we still have hope and assurance in Christ. This Christmas season, come listen, relax and be uplifted with the sounds of joyful Christmas music with our full complement and array of instruments, soloists, handbells, and our choir. Invite a neighbor or friend so they too may experience the love of Christ through this concert. The concert will also be available via livestream.

We are delighted to release our worship schedule for this Christmas season. As with prior years, we will have registration made available and highly encouraged. Registration is needed to allow the greatest participation, maintaining a comfortable atmosphere and ease of parking and movement. Registration will open Sunday, November 30 at 1pm.

A new 5-week Men's Bible study, Peter: Fisherman & Disciple, will be held at OFLC Tuesday mornings from 10am to 11:00am in the Conference Room. This study will delve into what Peter, fisherman and outspoken disciple of Christ, has to say to us in his first letter. Our study will be discussion-based with time for prayer on the following dates: November 4, 11, 18 and December 2 and 9. This study will be facilitated by Jack Lipski, an OFLC member.

ADULT & KID SINGERS INVITED / REGISTER ONLINE

Invitation is open to all to take part in OFLC's annual Christmas Concert this year. Adult and kid singers are welcome. The kid's choir is open to 3rd-5th graders.

Adult time commitment: Rehearsals will be Thursday evenings, November 6, 13, 20, and December 4 from 7:30-9pm in the Sanctuary with Emily Leeds. There will be two required dress rehearsals on December 9 and 11 from 7-8:45pm.

Kid's time commitment: Rehearsals will be Sunday mornings November 2, 9, 16, and 23 from 9:30-9:50am in the Community Room with Emily Leeds. There will be two required dress rehearsals on December 9 and 11 from 7-8:45pm.

A one-day seminar sponsored by the SOAR Committee of the Rocky Mountain District-LCMS will be held at Peace Lutheran Church on Saturday, September 20. Registration and continental breakfast beings at 8:45am, followed by the opening prayer and devotion at 9am. Please mark the date and register early using the form provided on the last page. Your registration fee of $30/person covers continental breakfast, lunch, coffee breaks, and costs for the speakers and facility.

Romans: A Survey of Paul's Most Influential Letter
BEGINS SUN SEPT 7 AT 9:30AM / PASTOR SCOTT ABEL 

What does it mean to be right with God? How can sinners be declared righteous? And what difference does the gospel make in real life?

Building on our recent summer sermon series in Romans 8, this 7-week overview will step back and explore the broader message of Paul’s letter – tracing the movement from sin and judgment to grace, faith, and a life transformed by God’s mercy. This study will help us see how the good news of Jesus Christ meets our deepest need and reveals the righteousness of God given by grace alone, through faith alone.

Foundations of Faith
BEGINS SUN SEPT 7 AT 9:30AM / CASSIE SCHERMBECK, DCE

This course is an introduction to the basic doctrines of the Christian Church from a Lutheran perspective. We’ll cover why it even matters, knowing God, who God is, and His work, and our work. We’ll specifically look at the Person and Nature of Jesus Christ, and His work on our behalf, both past and present. For those interested, another course will be offered in November covering salvation, conversion, justification, sanctification, Law and Gospel, prayer, the doctrine of the Church, and the Sacraments. These classes are more explanatory than the short survey of Introduction to Lutheran Teachings.

Finding My Purpose Again

We all go through seasons in life and transitions and losses. This class is for people who are currently working through a difficult place in their journey. Class sessions will help us learn to live in paradoxes, lean into emotions, learn our boundaries, grow and confidence, see purpose, and be ready to serve. Join us as together we grow beyond surviving to healing.

Introduction to Lutheran Teachings

This introductory class for those newer to Our Father is an opportunity to explore life and its meaning from a historic Lutheran Christian viewpoint. Feel welcome to ask questions about the church body our congregation is a part of; we’ll spend six weeks in a relaxed, non-threatening, fun environment together. This class is not as in-depth as Foundations: Essential Teachings of the Christian Faith.

TUESDAY MORNINGS 9:40AM / RESUMES IN JAN

Michele Schulteis teaches our Tuesday mornings Women's Bible Study. This fall, we will be using the book God’s Encouraging Word: True Comforts When Worldly Advice Fails by Faith Doerr. We’ll look at some common phrases we use that we think bring comfort but actually fall short. Often these make us look inwardly at ourselves for strength instead of looking to God. We’ll look at Scripture to both debunk these phrases while learning more about God who gives us that strength. Come and join us! Please contact us at info@oflc.net with any questions. Join us this Sunday at 9:30am in the Fellowship Hall for our last edition of our summer series on prayer in Scripture. Marcus Brinckman shares the Prayer of John: Come, Lord Jesus. Amen, from Revelation 22:20, the final prayer recorded in Scripture.

Bring your kids for Kids’ Ministry for our end of summer party on the lower level (check in first) or Student Ministry Hangout in the high school room.

In a new series beginning April 26 & 27, the Gospel of John invites us to linger a little longer at the empty tomb. Join us for the final chapter in our journey through John as we explore the resurrection appearances of Jesus—real encounters with the risen Lord that transformed hearts, restored hope, and gave life a whole new meaning.
